The story of Young Nelson follows Thabo 'Young Nelson' Moafrika a university graduate and boxing prodigy who gains his nickname at a local boxing gym When people in his community see his boxing prowess as well as leadership skill they liken him to a "Young Nelson" Mandela and bestow upon him the nickname. A name he rejects at first but the more he performs acts of heroism and sees the significance of the name, the more he takes on the name as his hero alias.

Omphile Dibodu is a South African artist with a Bachelor of Commerce in Honours Marketing Management graduate, performance, visual and digital artist. Together with his brother Phemelo, they founded Rainbow Nation Comics in 2018, the first comic book publisher owned by a South African creator and multidisciplinary youth culture brand. Both created a special story about their small hometown of Rustenburg, known as Hero City through their comic book series and audio titles "Young Nelson" inspired by the life and words of Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and many other great African heroes who came before him.

Together with his brother Omphile, they founded Rainbow Nation Comics in 2018, the first comic book publisher owned by a South African creator and multidisciplinary youth culture brand.
